Directions
This Irish soda bread is quick and easy to make, you can make this bread within no time. No yeast, no knead, no special ingredients and no special techniques is required. This Irish soda bread is a dense and delicious.
This quick bread is easy to make and just few ingredients required. The texture of this bread is dense and soft.
Which flour to be used: I have used 2 parts of wheat flour and one part of all purpose flour. You can use either wheat flour or all purpose flour.
Use of buttermilk: In traditional Irish soda bread is made with buttermilk, but i replaced buttermilk with milk and vinegar. Buttermilk is alkaline in nature and its react with baking soda which result in dense and moist bread. Milk and vinegar are always works the same as buttermilk do.
Kneading required: Irish soda bread is quick and simple to make. This quick bread required no kneading so do not over work just combine the dough together. Once done, just place the dough in the container and bake.
Don’t want to use: if you do not want to use milk powder you can use sugar with same quantity. You can also replace butter with vegetable oil.
Baking temperature: Bake in a preheated oven at 220° C for 20 minutes, and after 20 minutes reduce the temperature to 200° C and bake for another 30 minutes.
How to store: Once baked wrap in a damp cloth and let it rest for 1 hour. After 1 hour you can cut into pieces and enjoy soda bread toast. It can be stored for 3 days.
Bread texture: The texture of this bread is dense and the taste is flavorsome. The outer crust is nice and crisp as compared to yeast bread.

Preheat your oven at 220° C for 15 min. |

Meanwhile pour milk, vinegar in a bowl and let it rest for 15 min. |

In a large mixing bowl add flour, baking soda, milk powder and mix well. |

Pour milk mixture to the dry ingredients. |

lastly add 2 tbsp butter and mix until the dough comes together. Do not knead the dough, just combine together till it forms a soft and slightly sticky dough. |

Grease the bread container and place the dough into the container and spread it out with a spatula. |

Brush the bread with milk and deep cross on top. |

Bake in a preheated oven for first 20 minutes at 220°C temperature and then for 30 minutes at 200°C temperature. |

Once baked, wrap the bread in a damp cloth. |

Let the bread cool completely and then cut into pieces and enjoy! |
